Begin the Lenten journey at Ivy Chapel

The Lenten Season begins with Ash Wednesday on February 17th. The Lenten devotional booklet “Where In The World Is God?”, written for the 21st Century sinner, will be available on a table in the Narthex. With the Prayer Vigil we begin our 40-day ‘walk’ of spiritual examination to Easter.

Time line of events:
•The day starts with an all-day Prayer Vigil in the sanctuary from 6am to 5:30pm.
(Half-hour timeslots–7:30am through 9:30am, 11:30am through 1:30pm and 2:30pm through 5:30pm)

•At 6pm we will break bread together in Fellowship Hall. Our meal will be a simple supper prior to worship.
(You can still bring a soup even if you didn’t get to put your name on the bright green Sign-up sheet)

•Beginning at 7:30pm, Ivy Chapel will conclude the day with a worship service in the sanctuary.

Suffering from cabin fever? Wishing for warmth? Ivy Chapel has the cure!

Warm up with spicy red or white chili at our Chili Supper, Feb. 20 from 4-7:30 p.m. Bring your family and friends and eat in Fellowship hall, or pick up some chili for the whole gang!

$8 for adults and $4 for kids includes all you can eat chili, veggies, chips, crackers, beverages and homemade desserts… plus hot dogs for the kids! Childcare will be available.

Proceeds will benefit Ivy Chapel outreach activities.

Plus… take a chance on our special raffle to support a special youth mission trip to Honduras this summer!

Bring the kids to Santa’s Workshop Dec. 6

Ivy Chapel kids can participate in Santa’s Worskhop December 6 after worship. Just fill out the SIGN UP Form and give it to Shannon Farrell or Erin Lowry. Dogs and cats — and even a rabbit, hampster and Russian tortoise — descended on Ivy Chapel in record numbers on Sept. 12th for the Blessing of the Animals.

This was Ivy’s ninth year for the Blessing of the Animals, and it was the busiest yet. It was also the ninth straight year we have been fortunate to have perfect weather.

This year, we were proud to accept donations for C.H.A.M.P. assistance dogs. Donations will ensure C.H.A.M.P. will be able to continue providing service dogs free of charge to adults and children with disabilities.

Thank you to everyone who shared their pets with us… and see you next year!

Building support for Habitat for Humanity

It’s time again for Ivy Chapel’s annual Habitat for Humanity drive. We’re building a lego house in the Narthex. With each $10 block, you’ll help build our house — and you’ll add your support to this very worthy cause which helps build real houses for families in our area. Our goal is $750. Help us build a house in our church… so we can help Habitat build houses throughout our community!

40th Annual Lafayette Square Spring House and Garden Tour

Come on down for the 40th Annual Lafayette Square Spring House and Garden Tour: “Ruby Jubilee” on Saturday, June 6 at 10 am.

This year’s Lafayette Square House and Garden Tour will feature the Square’s own “architectural jewels” – elaborately restored Victorian era mansions, brand new remarkable replications of Italianate town homes, and examples of historic restorations that are underway. Tickets are $15 in advance and $18 on tour weekend. Group Sales of 20 or more are $12. More information is on the bulletin board in fellowship hall. After the tour, we will have lunch at Sqwires in Lafayette Square. Early registration is closed, but you can still take the tour! For information, contact Debbie Washburn.

New Conference E-newsletter
