August 30 Virtual Worship

Celebrate with us this week as we take one more step toward live worship!

Here is the order for worship:

Prelude / Anna DiVesta

Invocation (Responsive Call to Worship; and Unison Prayer) / Rev. Dan Wilson

Responsive Call to Worship
One: How majestic is God’s name in all the earth!
All: God is alive in all creation!
One: Everything which God makes is a reflection of God’s goodness.
All: Together, we praise God our Creator!
One: Thanks be to God for this day of life!
All: Let us rejoice and worship God!

Unison Prayer of Invocation
One: Let us pray.
All: God of life, you are a joy to behold! You are always near. Your constant closeness is a blessing. Realizing that you are close by each moment fills us with joy and peace. Every breath we breathe is a gift from you. Our every step, our every word, our every action is visible to you, God. You alone know the burdens that we are carrying. Sometimes our journey seems to go on forever, and we feel as though we never get any rest. Yet you are aware of our fatigue, God. This opportunity to receive nourishment from you fills us with gladness.

We thank you, God, that your revelation does not come to us because we are worthy. No, the truth is, you simply reveal things to people because you are a Gracious and Loving God.

Open our hearts to receive the gifts you would like to offer your Church during this time of worship. Jesus, you are our Risen Savior. We have heard your invitation to come to you. We long to walk in your footsteps and to live in your ways, Jesus. May we follow your lead and get behind you.

O Spirit of Christ, breathe upon us and breathe within us now as we worship you. Amen.

Hymn / “Majesty” (#4)

Majesty

Majesty, worship His majesty. Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise.
Majesty, kind authority flow from His throne unto His own; His anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus. Magnify, come, glorify Christ Jesus the King.

Majesty, worship His majesty. Unto Jesus be all glory, honor and praise.
Majesty, kind authority flow from His throne unto His own; His anthem raise.

So exalt, lift up on high the name of Jesus. Magnify, come, glorify Christ Jesus the King.

Majesty, worship His Majesty; Jesus who died, now glorified, King of all kings.

Filed under Livestream Links and Order for Worship

Last week, your Ivy Chapel worship team experimented with a new way (for us) to create a more engaging, communal online worship. We produced a short live online worship with special music, a prayer and a children’s message.

This week, we’d love for you to join us online for a full, live worship service.

The service will start at 10 a.m. (or a little after – you know Ivy) on Ivy Chapel’s Facebook page. You do notneed to have a Facebook account to watch.

Head to www.facebook.com/IvyChapel. You can use your smart phone, tablet or computer.

If you have an account and are logged in, you should be all set. If not, it will seem like Facebook is demanding you to login, but you can ignore these boxes and scroll down the page. You may need to click on “not now” if it asks you to login again.

As you scroll down the page, if we’re live, you’ll see the video. Click on the video to join the live worship in progress. You can click on the small icon with two diagonal arrows to expand the video to your whole screen.

Don’t worry if you can’t make it to the live worship. We will post a link to the video here on the Ivy Chapel website later in the day.

If you do tune in, please let us know what you think.

This week’s hymns:

Great Is Thy Faithfulness

  1. Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,
    There is no shadow of turning with Thee;
    Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;
    As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.

REFRAIN
Great is Thy faithfulness! Great is Thy faithfulness!
Morning by morning new mercies I see;
All I have needed Thy hand hath provided-
Great is Thy faithfulness, Lord, unto me!

  1. Summer and winter, and springtime and harvest,
    Sun, moon and stars in their courses above
    Join with all nature in manifold witness
    To Thy great faithfulness, mercy and love.

REFRAIN

  1. Pardon for sin and a peace that endureth,
    Thy own dear presence to cheer and to guide;
    Strength for today and bright hope for tomorrow,
    Blessings all mine, with ten thousand beside!

REFRAIN

Pass Me Not

  1. Pass me not, O gentle Savior – Hear my humble cry!
    While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by.

CHORUS
Savior, Savior, Hear my humble cry!
While on others Thou art calling, Do not pass me by.

  1. Let me at a throne of mercy Find a sweet relief;
    Kneeling there in deep contritions, Help my unbelief.

CHORUS

  1. Trusting only in Thy merit, Would I seek Thy face;
    Heal my wounded, broken spirit, Save me by Thy grace.

CHORUS

  1. Thou the spring of all my comfort, More than life to me!
    Whom have I on earth beside Thee? Whom in heav’n but Thee?

This week’s hymns:

Come, Thou Fount of Every Blessing

  1. Come, Thou Fount of every blessing, Tune my heart to sing Thy grace;
    Streams of mercy, never ceasing, Call for songs of loudest praise.
    Teach me some melodious sonnet, Sound by flaming tongues above;
    Praise His name – I’m fixed upon it – Name of God’s redeeming love.
  2. Here I raise mine Ebenezer, Hither by Thy help I’m come;
    And I hope, by Thy good pleasure, Safely to arrive at home.
    Jesus sought me when a stranger, Wandering from the fold of God;
    He, to rescue me from danger, Bought me with His precious blood.
  3. O to grace how great a debtor Daily I’m constrained to be!
    Let Thy goodness, like a fetter, Bind my wandering heart to Thee;
    Prone to wander, Lord, I feel it, Prone to leave the God I love;
    Here’s my heart, O take and seal it; Seal it for Thy courts above.

Give to the Winds Your Fears

  1. Give to the winds your fears, Hope, and be undismayed;
    God hears your sighs and counts your tears, God shall lift up your head.
    Through waves and clouds and storms He gently clears the way;
    Wait for His time, so shall the night Soon end in joyous day.
  2. Still heavy is your heart? Still sink your spirits down?
    Cast off the weight, let fear depart, And every care be gone.
    He everywhere has sway And all things serve His mind;
    His every act pure blessing is, His path unsullied light.
  3. Far, far above your thought His counsel shall appear,
    When fully He the work has wrought That caused your needless fear.
    Leave to His sovereign will To choose and to command;
    With wonder filled, you then shall own How wise, how strong His hand.

This week’s hymns:

It Took a Miracle

  1. My Father is omnipotent, And that you can’t deny;
    A God of might and miracles – ’Tis written in the sky.

REFRAIN
It took a miracle to put the stars in place,
It took a miracle to hang the world in space;
But when He saved my soul, Cleansed and made me whole,
It took a miracle of love and Grace.

  1. Tho’ here His glory has been shown, We still can’t fully see
    The wonders of His might, His throne, ’Twill take eternity.

REFRAIN

  1. The Bible tells us of His pow’r And wisdom all way thro’:
    And every little bird and flow’r Are testimonies, too.

REFRAIN

Here, O my Lord, I see Thee

  1. Here, O my Lord, I see Thee face to face;
    Here would I touch and handle things unseen,
    Here grasp with firmer hand th’eternal grace,
    And all my weariness upon Thee lean.
  2. Here would I feed upon the bread of God;
    Here drink with Thee the royal wine of heav’n;
    Here would I lay aside each earthly load,
    Here taste afresh the calm of sin forgiv’n.
  3. I have no help but Thine; nor do I need
    Another arm save Thine to lean upon;
    It is enough, my Lord, enough indeed;
    My strength is in Thy might, Thy might alone.
  4. Mine is the sin, but Thine the righteousness;
    Mine is the guilt, but Thine the cleansing blood.
    Here is my robe, my refuge, and my peace,
    Ty blood, Thy righteousness, O Lord, my God.

July 26 Virtual Worship

Thank you for joining us again this week for worship. We pray that, even when it may be hard to find, you can see hope in this world.

The Peace of Mind That Christ Can Bring

  1. The peace of mind that Christ can bring Is peace in knowing how to sing
    In spite of doubts of why or how, In spite of fears of here and now.
  2. The peace that strengthens faithful souls Cannot be built on self-made goals,
    But rather comes to those wo heed A call for help in time of need.
  3. So one finds peace within the heart when each with others bears a part.
    When peace for me is peace for you, Then Christ is present, peace is true.
  4. So Christ, invade our life and will Until we see your justice still
    Defining best all human worth, Reshaping dreams of peace on earth.

You Are My All In All

  1. You are my strength when I am weak, You are the treasure that I seek.
    You are my all in all.
    Seeking you as a precious jewel; Lord, to give up, I’d be a fool,
    Your are my all in all.

REFRAIN
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.
Jesus, Lamb of God, Worthy is Your name.

  1. Taking my sin, my cross, my shame; Rising again, I bless Your name,
    You are my all in all.
    When I fall down You pick me up; When I am dry you fill my cup,
    You are my all in all.

July 12 Virtual Worship

We thank you for joining us again this week as we continue to worship online to protect the health of our congregation, our community and our world. Please know that we are exploring ways to come back safely, and perhaps to still offer online worship for those who are unable to attend.

The Solid Rock

  1. My hope is built on nothing less Than Jesus’ blood and righteousness;
    I dare not trust the sweetest frame, But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.

REFRAIN
On Christ the solid Rock I stand; All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.

  1. When darkness veils His lovely face, I rest on His unchanging grace;
    In every high and stormy gale, My anchor holds within the veil.

REFRAIN

  1. His oath, His covenant, His blood Support me in the whelming flood;
    When all around my soul gives way He then is all my hope and stay.

REFRAIN

  1. When He shall come with trumpet sound, O may I then in Him be found;
    Dressed in his righteousness alone, Faultless to stand before the throne.

You Have Come Down to the Lakeshore

  1. You have come down to the lakeshore seeking neither the wise nor the wealthy,
    but only asking for me to follow,

REFRAIN
Jesus, you have looked into my eyes; kindly smiling, you’ve called out my name.
On the sand I have abandoned my small boat; now with you, I will seek other seas.

  1. You, know full well what I have, Lord; neither treasure nor weapons for conquest,
    just these my fish nets and will for working.

REFRAIN

  1. You need my hands, my exhaustion, working love for the rest of the weary-
    a love that’s willing to go on loving.

REFRAIN

  1. You, who have fished other waters; you, the longing of souls that are yearning;
    As loving Friend, you have come to call me.

July 5 Virtual Worship

This week, we invite you to join us for a virtual communion experience. Gather your own elements, and we can share them together.

As our Independence Day celebrations wind down, we pause to pray for peace and unity in our county and our world. Thank you for continuing to join us for our virtual worship experiences. And while we anxiously await the time when we may be able to worship together again, we will always put the health and safety of our members, friends and community first. Be safe, be healthy, and stay connected as best you can.

America

  1. My country, ’tis of thee, sweet land of liberty, Of thee I sing;
    Land where my fathers died, Land of the Pilgrim’s pride,
    From every mountain side Let freedom ring!
  2. Let music sweet the breeze, and ring from all the trees Sweet freedom’s song:
    Let mortal tongues awake, Let all that breathe partake;
    Let rocks their silence break, The sound prolong.

America the Beautiful

  1. O beautiful for spacious skies, For amber waves of grain,
    For purple mountain majesties Above the fruited plain!
    America! America! God shed His grace on thee,
    And crown thy good with brotherhood From sea to shining sea!
  2. O beautiful for pilgrim feet, Whose stern impassioned stress
    A thoroughfare for freedom beat Across the wilderness!
    America! America! God mend thine every flaw,
    Confirm thy soul in self-control, Thy liberty in law!

Battle Hymn of the Republic

  1. Mine eyes have seen the glory of the coming of the Lord;
    He is trampling out the vintage where the grapes of wrath are stored;
    He hath loosed the fateful lightning of His terrible swift sword; lory! glory, hallelujah!
    His truth is marching on.

REFRAIN
Glory! glory, hallelujah! Glory! glory, hallelujah!
Glory! glory, hallelujah! Our God is marching on.

  1. In the beauty of the lilies, Christ was born across the sea,
    With a glory in His bosom that transfigures you and me;
    As He died to make men holy, let us live to make men free,
    While God is marching on.

REFRAIN

Spirit

REFRAIN
Spirit, Spirit of gentleness, blow through the wilderness, calling and free,
Spirit, Spirit of restlessness, stir me from placidness, wind, wind on the sea.

  1. You move on the waters, you called to the deep,
    then you coaxed up the mountains from the valleys of sleep,
    and over the eons you called to each thing,
    “Awake from your slumbers and rise on your wings.”

REFRAIN

  1. You swept through the desert, you stung with the sand,
    and you gifted your people with a law and a land,
    When they were confounded with idols and lies,
    Then you spoke through your prophets to open their eyes.

REFRAIN

  1. You sand in a stable, you cried from a hill,
    then you whispered in silence when the whole world was still,
    and down in the city you called once again
    when you blew through your people on the rush of the wind.

REFRAIN

  1. You call from tomorrow, you break ancient schemes,
    from the bondage of sorrow the captives dream dreams;
    our women see visions, our men clear their eyes.
    With bold new decisions your people arise.
